Getting Ready photos always seem to be an optional choice for soon-to-be married couples planning their weddings, but as a photographer with 6 years worth of weddings under my belt, I can easily say that the getting ready portion of the day is one of my favorites and I always recommend it whenever a client is on the fence; not just because I have so much fun shooting it, but because I think it's also such an important and memorable part of the day.
I always get asked, why is the getting ready portion of the day so important to you? My answer is very simple. First, capturing every detail -- from the dress to the jewelry, the bouquet to the shoes, and everything in between -- is incredibly important because these items were hand picked specifically for this special day, but also I have an opportunity to get really creative with these items.
Second, capturing every candid little moment between family and friends. Your mom puts on your veil, your dad ties your tie, your best friend helps you get into your dress, your brother helps with your cuff links. These moments are so short and small in the grand scheme of things, but are just as memorable and important as everything else.
Finally, I love the getting ready portion of the day so much because it really gives me the opportunity to get to know my clients on a more personal level. This is usually the time where we can crack jokes and be a bit more comfortable and relaxed, and I truly value the relationships I build with my clients in this time.
So tell me, have I convinced you to book that getting ready coverage? I hope so! I promise you won't regret it.
